Just for shits and giggles I ran a similar test against my magnetic disks:

root at love:/data/temp# pv -p -t -e -b -a < /tmp/test.tar > test.tar
25.1GiB 0:27:19 [15.7MiB/s]
[================================================>] 100%

The SSD is over twenty times faster than the magnetic media!
